Parfleche  Sometimes called the Indian suitcase it was used to carry and protect many things such as clothing, meat and tipi articles. Most were made from buffalo rawhide but this one is a reproduction of a Northern Ute parfleche with a very simple design and made of elk which was common for them to use. Usually made in pairs,  a second can be supplied if desired. Painted with ground up earth and trade pigments applied with willow stick brushes and coated with cactus juice. Any other tribal style available and would be buffalo rawhide. Most other designs are more complex then this one but the price is the same.   Approx. 28" x 14"  $400
Please note: As mentioned before, the variety of style and designs for rawhide items is so large that we can only offer photos and descriptions of a few. However we have an extensive reference library pertaining to them. Just ask and we'll come up with what you want. *Also as an option, medium and small storage boxes, headdress cases, feather cases, and flat cases can be made from deer rawhide for a lesser cost then buffalo. Painting is done in the same manner. Buffalo was mostly used however the deer rawhide does look good.  Figure these items in deer rawhide at 20% less.

A design like this can be done on deer as well. $450.
